 Class of 2021

Kirk Carver, DO

Education / Training / About
Dr. Kirk Carver grew up in Knoxville, TN. He received his B.S. from Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama and went on to earn his D.O. from VCOM Virginia Campus in Blacksburg, VA.  Dr. Carver has been at CHS Blue Ridge in Morganton, NC for the past 3+ years as he completed his Internal Medicine residency.

Having always lived in bigger cities throughout his life, he was apprehensive coming to Morganton after the Internal Medicine match. After 3 years of being here, he has said this is a special place to train. “Despite our smaller hospital size, we treat a very diverse group of patients that present with a wide array of pathology. Our attendings are very engaged and able to provide 1 on 1 teaching every day. Our endoscopy training is well-rounded, and we begin scoping on day 1 of fellowship. We also rotate at a large tertiary care center in Charlotte (housing provided) for transplant hepatology and advanced endoscopy.”

Morganton is located in a beautiful region of western North Carolina, which provides many outdoor activities such as hiking, fishing, mountain biking, etc. We have 2 lakes very close to us as well as plenty of mountainous trails to explore. Despite our small size, we have multiple local eateries, shops, and breweries, which we frequent in our free time. Both Asheville and Charlotte are an hour away, which provide other opportunities for entertainment.
